The International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA)

With an estimated eight million firearms in the region, West Africa is struggling to survive ongoing conflicts in which small arms play a central and destabilizing role.
It is also a region where governments and NGO’s have joined hands to introduce mechanisms to halt the influx of guns.
Every country in West African has experienced widespread violence in which small arms featured.

IANSA is a global network of around 800 civil society organisations working to stop the proliferation and misuse of small arms and light weapons. Our members include survivor support groups, human rights activists, public health professional and research institutes.
